ST. JOSEPH, Mich. – United Federal Credit Union (United) is pleased to announce the results of its matching funds to the American Red Cross for aid in two natural disasters, Hurricane Florence and the California wildfires.

Since the fall, United has raised $4,922 for the American Red Cross to help families in North Carolina, South Carolina, and California who need assistance as they recover and rebuild. United has taken pride in matching member donations dollar-for-dollar for these initiatives.

Contributors were offered a chance to direct their donation to Hurricane Florence, California Wildfires, and Where It’s Needed Most. 79 people donated online with United committed to matching donations dollar-for-dollar.

“We are touched by our members’ generosity and their commitment to our values of service and philanthropy,” said President/CEO Terry O’Rourke. “This initiative is of utmost importance to us and we are always ready to lend a hand in these affected communities.”

Since 2017, United and its Members have donated $12,497 to the American Red Cross to assist victims of natural disasters across the U.S.

“We are so grateful for the support of United Federal Credit Union,” said Breeze Ettl, executive director of the American Red Cross of Southwest Michigan. “Because of their generous donation we are able to turn their compassion into action, so all people affected by disaster across the country receive care, shelter and hope.”
