"It's exciting to be involved in a project that will have such a meaningful impact on communities across Michigan," said Sorin Mihalache, United's Director of Property Management. "Strong, reliable internet service is essential for businesses to grow and for people to stay connected. United Federal Credit Union is proud that our location in St. Joseph can help support the infrastructure needed to keep Michigan moving forward."
Project IMPACC will improve internet reliability throughout the region. Two underwater fiber optic cables will connect Chicago to southwest Michigan and continue north to Byron Center. Scheduled for completion by June 2028, Project IMPACC enables interconnection with last mile service providers who will bring high-speed internet into homes and businesses. The $87 million project is an important investment in Michigan's digital future.
