United's history

In 1949, United Federal Credit Union was founded by five employees at the Whirlpool manufacturing plant in St. Joseph, MI. A part-time volunteer staff ran the credit union from a cash box in the personnel office. From those humble beginnings, the credit union has grown to nearly 40 branches in seven states, $4 billion in assets, and more than 190,000 members.
