ST. JOSEPH, Mich. – United Federal Credit Union (United) donated more than $15,300 to 47 non-profit organizations and 10 families across seven states during its 18th annual Pay It Forward initiative.
Asheville, North Carolina branch supported a family in need
Every year, the Pay It Forward program provides $20 to every employee to give to a deserving individual, family, or organization of their choice. Many departments and branches combine funds and even add their own financial contributions to create a more substantial donation, further demonstrating the passion Team United has for its members and communities.
This year, employees supported a wide range of causes: from local food banks and shelters to programs that help children, veterans, and animals, as well as organizations fighting cancer, domestic violence, and hunger. Teams also identified individuals and families struggling with illnesses and other life-altering challenges and provided direct assistance.
“We know the donations we are able to give to our local communities offer help during what can be a stressful time of the year,” said Terry O’Rourke, United President/CEO. “It’s inspiring to see our employees come together to make a difference. Their generosity and creativity in finding ways to help others truly reflect the credit union philosophy of people helping people.”
Marion, OH team donated to three organizations including the Marion County Dog Pound
United has been participating in Pay It Forward since 2008. O’Rourke credits the company’s culture and the dedication to service by employees for the program’s continued success.
“The enthusiasm our employees have for Pay It Forward is incredible,” O’Rourke added. “They go above and beyond to find people and causes who need extra support during the holidays. I am proud of Team United for the compassion and commitment they show every year to improve the lives of our members and communities.”
