Government Shutdown Assistance

United values government employees, and we know how a government shutdown affects your financial wellbeing. That’s why we want to make sure you have the help you need from us to get through this tough time.

If you’re a federal government employee, we’re here to help with:

Are you eligible?

Any member who is a federal government employee with pay affected by the government shutdown.

Program offers available only during the federal government shutdown and concludes the same day as when the government shutdown ends. Subject to credit approval.

[1] Proof of federal payroll required.

[2] Available to qualified borrowers for signature loans closed after 10/01/2025. Finance charges begin on the closing date and interest accrues during the payment deferral period.

[3] Requires a minimum of a 12-month loan payment history on file for the requested loan. This program only applies to auto or recreational vehicle loans only. All UFCU loans must be current at the time the waiver is requested. Limit two skip payments per year per loan. Waiver request must be received at least 7 days prior to the payment due date. Other terms and conditions may apply. Interest will continue to accrue on your loan, and your original loan term will be extended.

[4] Six-month introductory 0.00% APR rate on new purchases and balance transfers is only available for new U First credit cards.

[5] Rates after introductory period between 11.74%-18.00% APR (as high as 17.00% APR in Arkansas and Oklahoma); rates may vary. Rate determined by applicant’s creditworthiness. Balance transfer rates after introductory period between 9.74% - 16.00% APR; rates may vary. Rate determined by applicant’s creditworthiness. Your APR thereafter is then based on the Wall Street Journal Prime Rate and will vary based on the market. You may transfer any amount, but the total amount of your balance transfer must be less than your available credit limit. Be sure you don’t transfer any disputed purchase or other charge amount because you may lose your dispute rights. You can’t transfer balances from other accounts issued by United Federal Credit Union. There is no grace period on balance transfers or cash advances; a finance charge (based on the account’s current Annual Percentage Rate) will be imposed from the date the transfer is posted to your credit card account.
