ST. JOSEPH, Mich. – United Federal Credit Union has named Will Schirmer to the position of Chief Human Resources Officer.

In his role, Schirmer will be responsible for providing operational and strategic leadership to the human resources team in the areas of compensation and benefits programs, payroll operations, recruiting, employee relations, performance management, data management, and training and development.

Schirmer has more than 23 years of experience within the Human Resources function. His leadership roles include a variety of industries, including credit unions. Prior to joining United, he led a Sound Physicians Human Resources team in Washington.

“Will has a passion for Talent Management, and his experience in recruitment, onboarding, training, and employee engagement will positively impact Team United,” said O’Rourke.

Schirmer holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioral and political science from Minnesota State University, a master’s degree in social sciences from University of Leicester, and a master’s degree in human resource management from Fort Hays State University. He is also the author of “The Leadership Core: Competencies for Successfully Leading Others” and “Fulfilled: Finding Joy and Prosperity in Life”.
